Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Surgical Services, plans, organizes, and directs the administrative and technical activities of the unit/departments, including personnel management, financial management, and administrative functions that relate to quality patient-care services. Creates an effective working relationship with all levels of staff and peers, represents the department on institutional committees, develops long-range objectives, and prepares for any changes in healthcare delivery. The Director translates strategies into day-to-day operations.
MAJORACCOUNTABILITIES
Participates with leaders from administration, medical staffand clinical representatives in developing the hospital’s mission, strategicplans, budgets, resource allocation, community outreach, operation plans andpolicy making decisions and takes action consistent with the accepted standardsand values of the hospital.
Operates department in compliance with Joint Commissionand/or other regulatory agency requirements.
Oversees the management of the assigned department’s budgetincluding capital, personnel and expense budgets.
Ensures adequate department equipment, materials andsupplies are available.
Participates in developing and implementing mechanisms forcollaboration between staff members, physicians, and other clinicalpractitioners.
Evaluates employee performance and recommends salarychanges. Complies with Human Resources policies and key procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Current California RN license with preference to acurrent California RN with a BSN Degree or professional certification in specialty/management,BLS certification, a comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles, theories,and practices. Knowledge of supervisory theories, principles, practices,techniques, and methods, with 5 years of progressively responsibleclinical/administrative experience or comparable experience that providesknowledge and skills essential to the position responsibilities.
