Under general supervision, the RN demonstrates and utilizes knowledge and skills to provide direct age-specific and culturally appropriate patient care through the use of the nursing process based on knowledge of principles of growth and development, serves as a clinical resource, participates in patient and staff education, demonstrates leadership, and serves as a preceptor. Unit Description
6 North is a 12-bed step down telemetry unit that specializes in vascular surgery and telemetry. 6 North is part of the Cardiovascular Division at SMC.
6 North is comprised of RNs, PCAs (patient care associates) and UAs (unit ambassadors). In addition to our regular staffing, 6 North has a free Charge Nurse / Admission Discharge Nurse that is available to help you with a variety of things.
Nurse to patient ratio on 6 North is 1:4.

Here you will find a warm group of professional, willing and clinically proficient individuals to assist you in adapting to your potential role as a registered nurse. 6 North cares for a variety of patients with telemetry needs.
Some of 6 North’s vascular surgeries include aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries and amputations. All the beds on 6N are monitored beds. You will be exposed to many types of patients on 6N aiding in your ability to provide great care to anyone that chose Spartanburg Medical Center to meet their healthcare needs.

1. Requirements for RN PRN Nursing Department Associates
a. Currently licensed in the State of South Carolina and/or have appropriate license/certification for the department in which they work.
b. At least 1 years' experience.
c. Demonstrated competency required by position.
d. Annual Requirements will be completed as required to complete facility and departmental annual and ongoing competencies
e. PRN associates may have flexibility, working with their Manager, in preparing their scheduled hours to work. Working schedules shall be arranged according to unit need and based on the associate's availability. The PRN associate will work with their Manager on a four to six (4-6) weeks calendar of availability. Once the shifts are confirmed, the shifts shall be considered as pre-scheduled and absences are treated as such. PRN associates may be requested to work additional hours as the need arises.
