Job Description

Operates within Memorial Health Systems mission, vision, goals and objectives. Directs movement of outpatients and inpatients within the emergency department. Collaborates with inpatient nursing to achieve optimal patient flow. Assists in the evaluation of performance and skills of nursing staff within the emergency department. Openly collaborates across professions within and beyond MHS to meet individualized patient needs. Engages in continuing education to stay up to date on current legislation and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Current licensure as an R.N. in the State of Illinois.

Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) preferred.

ACLS, TNS or TNCC, PALS or ENPC required

Experience:

Three (3) years’ direct care experience in emergency nursing required

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent verbal communication skills is required.

Ability to work across multiple sites of care required.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists with daily schedule maintenance by evaluating skill and experience level of staff with the acuity of patients.
  2. Participates in quality and process improvement in the department during all phases from planning to implementing and sustaining efforts.
  3. Maintains professional relationships with medical staff, nursing staff, sexual assault advocate, law enforcement.
  4. Responsibly directs and precepts staff members as needed/assigned in all aspects of patient care management.
  5. Take ED Supervisor on call
  6. Keeps up to date with regulatory changes to fulfill requirements necessary to keeping current licensure.
  7. Performs other related work as required or
