Job Description

Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for all nursing and clinical services. You will participate in direct nursing care, clinical administration, patient flow coordination, and supervision of clinical staff. You will interact with faculty, fellows, residents, patients, guests, staff, vendors, departmental and health system leadership to maximize patient care and ensure safety.

Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of the clinical staff (LVNs and MAs); conduct the evaluation process, maintain yearly staff competencies, provide all necessary training for new and existing staff and review staff timesheets for accuracy
  • Ensuring that all applicable policies and standards are maintained at all times
  • Planning for and adjusting staffing on a daily basis to maintain efficient and adequate operations
  • Overseeing orders, supply auditing, ensuring all equipment is operational, and the maintenance/upkeep of the practice
  • Managing the Quality Assurance process
Qualifications

Required:

  • CA LVN License with IV therapy certification
  • Current and valid CPR certification with ability to administer CPR
  • Experience working with neurological patient population
  • At least 2-3 years of LVN experience
  • Working knowledge of outpatient practice operations
  • Ability to recognize and intervene in emergency situations
  • Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform clinical procedures and physical examinations
  • Ability to effectively elicit pertinent clinical information such as presenting complaints from patients and referring professional, and make appropriate assignments based on established guidelines
  • Ability to accept direction from administration and act promptly
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, peers, physicians and administrators
  • Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and responds to changing priorities and deadlines

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of UC patient registration system, appointment scheduling system and order entry system
  • Spanish speaking skills
