We are looking for a Charge Nurse with Chemical Dependency I/P Department at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Location: Laguna Beach, California

Work Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Night

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the nurse manager, the Charge Nurse provides an optimal practice environment and assists the nurse manager in overseeing and directing unit activities and personnel in order to ensure high quality patient care. Plans, organizes, controls and coordinates the department activities for a shift ensuring high quality patient care and efficient, cost effective service. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the Hospital Mission Statement. Adheres to the ANA Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice.


  • Meets all requirements of RN II Staff Position in applicable unit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, which promote and enhance leadership with staff, patients, families and ancillary departments.
  • Communicates effectively with appropriate team members in a timely manner.
  • Ability to solve problems, analyze situations, think critically and give constructive feedback.
  • Ability to supervise and team with others.
  • Proficient in the use of technology.
  • Adaptability and advocate for change.

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing


  • Previous Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience.
  • Two years recent clinical experience in specialty area.

License / Certification:

  • Current CA RN license.
  • Current BLS.
  • Current ACLS and/or PALS as applicable to the area (Critical Care, Telemetry, ED, PACU, Endo Lab, CV Lab, Card. Rehab, Pulmonary Medicine),
  • Current NRP (OB & LD), Advanced Fetal Monitoring (L&D).

Within six (6) months of hire, certification in nursing administration, management or specialty area as approved by American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Magnet required upon hire.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Masters of Science in Nursing

Experience: Previous leadership experience

License / Certification: 2nd Professional Certification in Nursing Administration or management, as approved by American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Magnet.
