Providence is calling a Nurse Liaison RN (Admissions, Day Shift, 0.5 FTE) at St Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support census development as defined through the targeted goals of the Care Team.
  • Utilize good nursing assessment skills to complete thorough pre-admission screening of patients referred to hospital. This includes the knowledge to determine medical stability, and foresight to estimate the patient’s tolerance of therapy.
  • Conduct rounds to targeted referral sources on a regular basis.
  • Maintain memberships and regularly participates in community functions and activities as well as professional organizations.
  • Schedule and conduct educational programs at referring agencies.
  • Attend programs and/or courses in nursing, and other venues as needed to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Display and share knowledge of professional developments and current trends in the overall healthcare industry.
  • Follow up on internal and external problems related to referral/admission process to ensure rapid solutions.
  • Inform administration of competitive issues/trends/new programs and developments in liaison’s territory.
  • Communicate with physicians, discharge planners, social workers, and other referral sources as needed to both develop referrals and follow-up on admissions to facility programs.
  • Establish contact with patient’s family to facilitate admissions process and to assist in the orientation to the facility.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is an expectation of this position to fulfill the major functions of this position.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • State of Alaska RN licensure
  • BLS certification

Preferred qualification for this position include:

  • Experience in acute medical-surgical, critical care, LTCH or IRF, insurance, workers’ compensation, related clinical area

About St. Elias Specialty Hospital:

St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.

At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions. We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.
