Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse (Per Diem, Day Shift) to work at the Swedish Cancer Institute in Issaquah, WA.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care adapted to individual patient needs based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position is accountable and responsible on a continuing basis for planning and providing comprehensive outpatient care to patient/families with cancer being cared for by the Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology physician(s) at the Swedish Cancer Institute

In this position you will:

  • Collect pertinent assessment data that includes present condition, past history, physical, spiritual and psychosocial information utilizing input from patient, significant other, and/or healthcare team members as applicable. Interprets data to identify the patient’s needs and potential problems.
  • Develop, review, and revise an individualized care plan within the time frame identified in documentation standards. Establish expected outcomes that are measurable and achievable.
  • Coordinate care with medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion and other disciplines as necessary e.g. social services, hospice, assisted living, and inpatient care.
  • Provide office support. Assumes responsibility for management of the patient’s care needs in the radiation oncologists’ clinic and medical oncologist clinic as established by the patient care team.
  • Evaluate patient’s response to care and initiates independent and/or collaborative changes where appropriate. Document changes in condition and interventions.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing degree/diploma upon hire
  • All Registered Nurses (RN) without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 6 years of hire
  • A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
  • ACLS required within 3 months of hire or transfer to Medical Oncology
  • Chemotherapy certification
  • Twelve (12) months acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency located at that facility

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Nursing degree (BSN)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse certification
  • IV Therapy certification
