BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area. BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and customer service.

Labor & Delivery, NICU and Newborn nursery are comprised of 20 LDRP single-room birthing suites, 2 C-section surgical suites, 20 licensed nursery beds, and 20 licensed Level III NICU beds. Along with our excellent nursing staff, new parents are supported with childbirth education plus a lactation nurse.

Job Summary:
The Newborn Nursery Registered Nurse is accountable for the health status and health needs of their patients based upon interpretation of health data and preventative health practices in collaboration with the patients and the interdisciplinary healthcare team members. The Newborn Nursery Staff RN cares for the newborn from delivery to discharge along with parent teaching on care of their newborn. Must be flexible and willing to float to other areas ie: NICU and Pedi. The Lactation Consultant is a trained professional giving breastfeeding guidance and support to the new parents.


Licenses and Certifications:
Current Texas RN license
Lactation Certification required with IBCLC preferred

CPR certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
NRP required within 90-days of hire
STABLE required within 1-year of hire

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Newborn Nursery, NICU Staff RN nursing experience required
Previous experience with delivery attendance, infants in transition, term infants and assisting with newborn emergency management preferred

Experience with equipment specific to Newborn Nursery: transport incubator, T-piece resuscitator, infant radiant warmer and incubator, infant cardiorespiratory monitors, phototherapy equipment, transcutaneous bilimeter, syringe infusion pumps, electric breast pumps
Assess, plan, evaluates, documents total nursing process
Organized, self-motivated with exceptional follow-through skills
Computer skills necessary; EMR EPIC documentation
Multi-task constantly and tolerate multiple interruptions
Clear and effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
Compassionate customer service skills
