Our core values are compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork and wholeness.The Nurse Clinician-Hemtaology/Oncology, responsibilities include coordinating patient assessment, planning of care, discharge planning: and administering patient care and patient and family education. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to provide developmentally appropriate and age-specific (infant, toddler, preschooler, school-age, adolescent, young adult) direct and indirect patient care and treatment management. Utilizes disease-specific knowledge base and the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation) to provide whole person care in the outpatient environment. Ensures continuity of care across the continuum, e.g., pre-admission and post hospitalization. Collaborates with other healthcare team members and participates in team conferences to coordinate implementation of treatment plan recommendations. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs additional team functions as required to maintain effective customer services. Performs other duties as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required (in progress accepted with quarterly reports). Minimum two years experience in clinical nursing caring for the pediatric hematology and/or oncology patient population. Minimum one year of experience with pediatric blood and marrow transplant patients preferred.
California Registered Nurse (RN) license, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Nurses (APHON) Chemotherapy and/or Biotherapy Provider card preferred. Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON) preferred.
