Job Description

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for all nursing and clinical services. This requires direct nursing care, clinic administration, patient flow coordination and supervision of clinic staff. Interaction with physicians, patients and staff to maximize patient care and ensure patient safety. Conducting daily huddles, coordinating and assigning tasks and duties of all assigned staff based on established protocols, policies and procedures. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing supervision of assigned staff, ensuring that all applicable policies and standards are maintained at all times, planning for and adjusting staffing on a daily basis to maintain efficient and adequate operations, conducting the evaluation process, maintaining yearly staff competencies, providing all necessary training for new and existing staff and the maintenance and upkeep of the practice. You will also be responsible for the hiring process as well as staff time and attendance.

Clinical duties will include: collect and process paperwork and blood samples as requested by provider, process screening tests such as hematocrits, RUA’s, card pregnancy test, FIT, etc., including documentation of results, process samples and paperwork for pap smears, GC cultures and Chlamydia cultures, prepare urine specimens for microscopic analysis, send lab specimens to the appropriate lab with proper reimbursement information and correct specimen processing per specifications of each individual laboratory and perform these functions when floating to smaller sites and serving as lab back-up at Simms/Mann.

Qualifications

Required:
Current California LVN license.
Possession of BCLS certification and ability to assist in a medical emergency
IV Certification
Two years of experience providing primary care in a pediatric setting
Effective oral and written bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
Ability to pass Basic Health Worker course and obtain certificate
Working knowledge of health education, public health, medical terminology, process and procedures, along with the ability to train other clinic staff, and in patients via health education
Ability to follow through on assignments, while helping to facilitate the organization, prioritization, and completion of all clinic tasks through collaboration with other clinic staff
Interpersonal skills to deal with patients, staff and volunteers of diverse educational, economic and cultural backgrounds
Ability to perform phlebotomy and basic lab procedures such as pregnancy tests, UA, etc.
Ability to take direction from RN and medical providers and ability to work collaboratively with all other staff members
Ability to keep lab procedures and results logs
Skill in administering injections and immunizations
Ability to prioritize medical problems within scope of job responsibilities
Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures and ability to follow them
Ability to work in busy setting with conflicting demands
Skill at working independently and prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner

Preferred:
Working knowledge of University’s EMR System (EPIC).
