The Patient Safety Specialist assists in the development and implementation of patient safety programs. Facilitates cause analysis of actual or near miss events throughout the organization. Provides education, and mentoring to clinical stakeholders. Facilitates multidisciplinary teams to achieve measureable and sustainable improvements in process and systems related to patient safety. Assist in the development of complex clinical risk reduction strategies. Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of high reliability principles and strategies.
Education: Bachelor's degree required. In a healthcare/clinical field preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the delivery of clinical care in nursing or allied health required.
Current license in nursing or allied health. Obtains Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification within two years of accepting role required.
Additional Skills Required: Strong written and verbal skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio; ability to self-direct, manage time and resources; ability to facilitate high functioning teams; ability to travel throughout the Novant Health footprint.
