Under direct supervision of nurse manager, the incumbent will perform the following patient care responsibilities and safety measures: assist patient with admission procedure; assist patients during transfer procedure; assist patients with discharge procedure; provide for patients' personal hygiene; assist with patients' excretory needs; assist patients with meals and nourishment; and assist in providing for patient safety and comfort measures. Provide clerical support to the Administrative Nurse of the designated unit. Transcribe Doctor's orders; verify, record, post and file information materials via manual and/or automated systems; evaluate and report data pertinent to the functioning of the patient care unit; interpret and apply medical terminology; coordinate intra-departmental communications; foster public relations; participate in meetings and continuing education.
This position floats to various units within the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica hospital locations based on the patient census and the skills of the RN/Staff. An ability to work efficiently and effectively with others, providing compassionate and cutting edge patient care while also contributing to the positive and collaborative team environment at UCLA Health is a must.Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN OR MSN Only), current active California R.N. licensure and clinical skills applicable to nursing specialty, BLS certification. Ability to perform historical, physical and behavioral status assessments of patients using appropriate framework. Demonstrated skill in the delivery of patient care, utilizing team, total, primary or functional systems. Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis. Writing skills to document accurately interventions and patient response. Ability to develop and implement and evaluate patient care plan actively involving patients, family, and staff. Knowledge of POMR charting. Skill in setting priorities, organizing workload to effectively administer direct patient care. Skill in speaking English clearly and distinctly to interpret and describe patient assessments and identify nursing interventions and direct staff. Ability to work effectively with stress and in crisis situations Ability to comply with departmental standards on punctuality, attendance, dress code and varied work schedules. Knowledge and practice in the proper use of safe body mechanics. ICU RNs float to both ICU and Med Surg Units.
3 years ICU experience required.
BSN or MSN degree required.
National Certification preferred.
