Responsibilities

As a representative of Medical Center Administration, the Administrative Nursing Supervisor is accountable for a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient functioning of hospital operations and the provision of safe, effective patient care. These responsibilities include assessing issues related to the provision of patient care, patient and employee safety, and patient or family dissatisfaction, planning appropriate actions to resolve those issues and collaborating with other members of the Medical Center leadership/executive team. In the absence of senior leadership, the Administrative Nursing Supervisor initiates interventions based on their assessment and determines which unusual problems/ incidents (i.e. disaster management, sentinel events, breach of policy) should be referred to the designated Department Director or Administrator on call. In the event of a disaster, the Administrative Nursing Supervisor in the absence of senior leadership, evaluates the disaster as it develops and assumes the incident commander role and initial responsibility for the response until such time as senior leaders are available. The Administrative Nursing Supervisor coordinates clinical and nursing resources to optimize efficient patient flow supporting throughput initiatives for safe patient placement within UCLA Health System. To achieve throughput initiatives the Administrative Nursing Supervisor works collaboratively with Patient Placement/Transfer Center management to assist in identifying and escalating barriers and operationalizing overflow patient care areas as needed. Also ensures the effective and compassionate management of decedent affairs. In addition, verbally and behaviorally, demonstrating skill, enthusiasm, commitment and loyalty to the department, profession and the organization.Qualifications

BSN with an MSN or a BSN with a Master’s in a related field. BLS required
Prefer applicant to have certification in area of practice.
Must commanding presence and strong communication skills
Must have at least 5 years of acute hospital experience.

5 years of ICU Nursing experience preferred.
2 years or greater of charge nurse or leadership experience required
