We are looking for an RN to join our Mother/Baby team! Over 28,000 babies were born at Virginia Mason Memorial over the last decade, with an average of 7 babies born each day. Mother/Baby nurses care for medical antepartum patients, newborns and mothers post-delivery. As the referring perinatal center for Central WA, our Mother/Baby team is assisted by specialists should there be any complications for mother or baby. Over 90% of our Mother/Baby nurses have completed the 15-hour Breastfeeding Friendly course and our rate of breastfeeding mothers is steadily increasing; we want to provide mothers with the best information available during their time with us.
RNs at Virginia Mason Memorial also enjoy support from a 24-hour Lift Team, 24-hour Respiratory Team, Pharmacy (24-hour med mixing), IV Therapists, Social Workers and Chaplains.

The RN completes individualized patient assessments; develops a care plan based on assessment/history findings; delivers patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate; evaluates a patient's response to care and revises as needed. The RN is accountable to deliver care as well as to oversee and delegate to other personnel (clinical & non-clinical) in delivering/supporting the delivery of care.
RN Mother/Baby Essential Responsibilities, include:
1. Provides antepartum care.
2. Provides mother and newborn education.
3. Utilizes glucometer.
4. Provides pre-op teaching for patients.
5. Provides breastfeeding support to patients.
6. Manages newborn admits.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Experience: Previous acute care nursing experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required. NRP certification preferred, or required within six months of hire.
