Virginia Mason Memorial's Critical Care Unit includes 20 beds in Telemetry and 11 Beds in ICU. RNs without ICU experience begin in Telemetry and train to ICU as needed and interested; ICU-trained RNs work in both units. The Critical Care Unit (CCU) is committed to training with both a Telemetry and ICU Residency (customized to the needs of each RN) and EKG courses. CCU staff are trained to treat the majority of critical care diagnoses including, cardiovascular illness, respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation, infectious disease states, postoperative care, shock and neurological problems. RNs on CCU enjoy the full support of Shift Coordinators, Assistant Nurse Managers, and NACs – both day and night.
RNs at Virginia Mason Memorial also enjoy support from a 24-hour Lift Team, 24-hour Respiratory Team, Pharmacy (24-hour med mixing), IV Therapists, Social Workers and Chaplains.

The RN completes individualized patient assessments; develops a care plan based on assessment/history findings; delivers patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate; evaluates a patient's response to care and revises as needed. The RN is accountable to deliver care as well as to oversee and delegate to other personnel (clinical & non-clinical) in delivering/supporting the delivery of care.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
Experience: Previous acute care nursing experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required until ACLS is obtained. ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
