Provides audit of patient services delivered in surgical service to ensure correct patient charge capture, charge entry, and charge reconciliation. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
  • 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing
  • 1 year of experience at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
  • Current knowledge of products and equipment used in surgical services
  • Computer skills with spreadsheet and word processing software applications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment
  1. Works in conjunction with clinical and billing staff to capture charges and check for/correct billing errors.
  2. Assists with charge reconciliation.
  3. Works with hospital auditor to resolve reimbursement issues.
  4. Identifies items that require a charge description master charge code number.
  5. Identifies errors in charge posting that require correction.
  6. Works with surgical inventory and Finance to maintain and correct charge description master.
  7. Participates in training of staff on charge description master, billing charging, and documentation.
  8. Acts as resource for surgery staff regarding charge issues.

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
