Job Description

Provides charge nurse responsibilities, including assignments, management of throughput, staffing to matrix, and responding to patient and staff needs. Manages a patient care assignment as indicated by patient care needs. Assists with hiring, education and performance evaluation of the staff. Works with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources in performance management counseling and discipline of staff. Instructs staff and ensures compliance with standards through daily on-going monitoring and performance management. Serves as a role model and mentor for excellence in clinical practice and patient and employee satisfaction. Takes personal responsibility for achieving productivity targets and budget compliance. Has primary involvement and responsibility for unit performance improvement activities and outcomes.

We currently have an opening for a Unit Coordinator on our Hematology/BMT unit.

Unit 41 Hematological Malignancies/ Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy

This 20-bed protective environment unit specializes in the care of patients in our nationally accredited blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy program. Newly diagnosed patients receive the latest treatment options available in our National Cancer Institute designated cancer program. These patients often experience longer hospital stays due to complex chemotherapy regimens, prolonged neutropenia and supportive care therapies including intravenous medications, electrolyte replacements and blood products. Specialized nursing care is required to ensure optimal outcomes and our team is able to develop strong relationships with our patients over the course of their treatment.

Unit 42 Hematological Malignancies/ Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy

This 29-bed unit specializes in the treatment of malignant hematology, blood and marrow transplant patients. Newly diagnosed patients receive the latest treatment options available in our National Cancer Institute designated cancer program. These patients experience complex chemotherapy regimens, prolonged neutropenia and supportive care therapies including intravenous medications, electrolyte replacements and blood products. Specialized nursing care is required to ensure optimal outcomes and our team is able to develop strong relationships with our patients over the course of their treatment. Three of the rooms on this unit are dedicated to palliative care.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BLS Certification
  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas required
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing required

Preferred:

  • 2 years of clinical experience
  • Professional Nursing Certification
