Job Description

We are currently hiring for a Clinical Nurse (Registered Nurse) on our General Surgery and Trauma Unit.

Day, night and weekend shift options potentially available!

Unit 51-Trauma, General Surgery, and Plastics

Unit 51 nursing staff collaborates with trauma and general surgery teams in order to provide high quality care to complex medical-surgical patients on this 27-bed unit. The nursing staff uses technology, such as telemetry, and have a wealth of resources to provide the most technically advanced care to the patient population served on this unit. Trauma patients receive care for injuries sustained in motor vehicle crashes and falls, as well as injuries related to personal violence. General surgery patients encompass include a wide variety of laparoscopic and open abdomen and bowel procedures.

Team work is prevalent in this fast-paced nursing unit, and necessary to complete the complex patient care required by the trauma patient population.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • The Clinical Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients.
  • Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population.
  • Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care.
  • Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • AHA BLS Certification
  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas or compact state licensure
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher for less than 2 years of RN experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing accepted with 2 or more years of RN experience.
  • For ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA.

Preferred:

  • BSN Degree
