We are currently hiring for a Clinical Nurse (Registered Nurse) on our Medical Telemetry unit - Unit 45.

This smaller unit allows for close teamwork. As a newer unit, our culture is friendly and welcoming. Our nurses love our unit because of the people they work with and the diverse patient population they get to care for.

This is a fast paced 26 bed medical telemetry unit provides advanced and specialized care to patients with a variety of medical conditions including renal failure, liver failure, respiratory complications, infections, sepsis, and diabetes as well as overflow beds for BMT patients and many other diagnoses that may require continuous cardiac monitoring. Our palliative care room is utilized for patients and the end of their life. Our nurses have the opportunity to work with a variety of physician services in the hospital, and through this, develop the expertise to care for our diverse population. Our unit is known for telemetry and medical surgical levels of care. Along with accommodating cardiac monitoring and drips, we also see insulin and other medication drips as well with a nurse to patient ratio of around 4:1.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • The Clinical Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients.
  • Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population.
  • Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care.
  • Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • AHA BLS Certification
  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas or compact state licensure
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher for less than 2 years of RN experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing accepted with 2 or more years of RN experience
  • For ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA

Preferred:

  • BSN Degree
