Summary:
The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Registered Nurse is a member of the patient care team who, with knowledge of the nursing process, provides leadership in applying scientific principles and professional skills aimed at caring for the ill, preventing disease and maintaining optimum health. The RN assists providers in carrying out a therapeutic regiment for each patient and is an advisor of non-professional nursing teammates in providing nursing care to meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individual patients. The RN implements the nursing process in order to provide professional holistic patient care.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides quality patient care using the nursing process and critical thinking skills.
2. Recognizes, interprets and analyzes difficulties in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation outpatient care situations.
3. Collaborates and communicates effectively with providers, interdisciplinary teammates, patients and their families.
4. Maintains clear and concise documentation.
5. Ensures all nursing charges are completed daily and ensures QI findings are reported.
6. Keeps credentials and certification current.
7. Ensures the availability of adequate supplies and is knowledgeable in operation of equipment.
8. Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements.
9. Actively participates in teammate meetings and on committees as requested.
10. Participates in performance improvement activities.
11. Presents and promotes a professional demeanor at all times, establishes high standards of customer service, supports responsibility, pride, and teamwork, remains calm under pressure, and offers reasonable solutions for problems.
12. Demonstrates appropriate interaction with and provides recommended care and services to all patients. Exhibits knowledge and basic understanding regarding the needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients, and the cultural needs of all patients.
13. Applies knowledge of principles of standard precautions. Routinely uses PPE to avoid risk of exposure to self and others.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Licensure/Certification
Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina required.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Experience
One year experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to recognize, interpret, and analyze difficulties in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation outpatient situations.
• Performs independently within his/her scope of practice.
• Considerable knowledge of the procedures, material, and equipment that apply to the nursing process.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Proficient with MS Office and EPIC, and also able to learn new software rapidly.
• Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for duration of shift.
Valid NC Driver’s License: No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
