Part-time General Nursing

Job Description

The Stress Lab Nurse provides care for patients undergoing multiple types of stress testing and monitoring. The RN ensures the safety and wellbeing of the patient through a supportive clinical environment with trained healthcare providers and appropriate equipment and monitoring capabilities. The Stress Lab Nurse will triage patients into the appropriate testing category based upon the physician’s orders and patient’s clinical history. The incumbent will initiate the correct stress test protocol and monitor the condition of the patient before, during, and after the test. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring vital signs, obtaining and interpreting EKGs and identifying rhythm changes; communicating with all team members including Cardiologists, Nuclear Med, ECHO, and Vascular. The stress nurse will utilize critical thinking skills to identify critical findings and initiate emergency measures. The position is also responsible for applying and reading heart monitors, ambulatory BP monitors and overnight pulse oximeters.

Education

Associates in Nursing (ADN) or an Advanced health care degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Licensure/ Certification

  • Current VA RN license.
  • Certified in BLS
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Experience

Two years of Critical care nursing exp.
