New Grads join our Grow Strong RN program! It is a 6 month experience that guides new to practice nurses through the critical first year, filling the gap between nursing school and real life practice. JOB SUMMARY:
This position works at the direction of the Registered Nurse providing patient care and general duties in the organization. Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.
In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness; administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Ohio Nursing Practice Act and Mercy Health policies and procedures; serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required: Obtain RN License within 90 days. If requirement not met due to board failure, must be obtained within 60 days of fail date. Failure to obtain within the extended period will result in immediate removal from position. BLS certification through American Heart Association is required.
Recent graduate of an approved nursing program.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The Nurse Extern/Resident will be required to work on the unit/department to which they are hired as a Nurse Extern/Resident upon obtaining their RN licensure. If the student graduated from an ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) or a Diploma program, they are required to obtain their BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) within 5 years of employment.
