Position Summary: The Endoscopy Department Manager (EDM) works closely with the Tidelands Digestive Health SBU dyad leadership to oversee operations of the endoscopy department and align it with the Tidelands Health mission and strategic vision. The EDM is responsible for multisite endoscopy operations and not limited to additional site management. The EDM will be responsible for overseeing all Assistant Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, Staff RN's, and other ancillary staff in the department. The EDM’s accountability extends to activities which enhance revenues and which must be managed without compromising patient care quality. Key requirements involve the development, planning, coordinating, and implementing the TH business plan and strategy. This may involve formatting budgets and overseeing all aspects of the daily operations of the department including business expansion, coding, billing and collections. The EDM responsibility includes development and maintenance of an ongoing quality monitoring improvement program. The EDM develops quality initiatives and implements policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit. The EDM is responsible for ongoing review, assessment and education of clinical nursing, policy & procedure management, medical record management and evaluating standards of care for patients. The EDM maintains clinical competence in endoscopy, performs competency and annual performance evaluations of employee partners, and provides consultation in area of expertise to management, staff and other disciplines. The EDM enhances operational effectiveness while emphasizing cost containment without jeopardizing important innovation and quality of care. The EDM will ensure that the endoscopy department operations and team members are knowledgeable of and in compliance with applicable regulatory, licensing and accrediting agency standards and applicable state and federal laws. The EDM will demonstrate fluency in the EMR and HIS systems, effectively implementing and monitoring utilization of these tools for documentation of care and improved case management. The EDM must participate in marketing efforts through various related activities and overall act as the liaison and a channel of communication between the endoscopy department and Tidelands Digestive Health dyad leadership. The EDM will coordinate with the TH Gastroenterology Practice Manager to provide an efficient, high quality experience for the digestive health patients and referral sources. The EDM has the authority to make decisions that ensure quality and safe patient care in the absence of the dyad leadership team. The EDM must participate in teamwork activities with peers and complete all other duties as assigned by senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years Endoscopy unit leadership or related healthcare management experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of organization and operation of an endoscopy unit including knowledge of nursing care techniques and methods, preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required.
**May substitute BSN with Associates Degree in Nursing in combination/in conjunction with a Healthcare or Business specific Bachelor’s degree**
Licensure/Certification:
- Current and in good standing RN Licensure with South Carolina Board of Nursing.
- American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.
- ACLS, required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must be strongly proficient with PC’s and Microsoft office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Prior Electronic Medical Record experience, preferred.
- Evidence of effective leadership, interpersonal skills, consensus and team building skills, required.
- Demonstrated effectiveness with strong written communication skills including report presentation, required.
- Data management and analysis that drives change and improvement, required.
- Strong analytical and operational problem solving/decision making skills with the ability to be innovative, required.
- Ability to be self-motivated to complete organizational projects and goals.
- Knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma principles, required.
- Valid and in good standing driver’s license and personal transportation to be able to travel to multiple TH clinical sites, required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
