Patients receive the newest treatment options available at our National Cancer Institute designated program and may be enrolled in cancer treatment trials. Our cancer nurses are skilled in providing holistic cancer care and have a passion for the care of oncology patients. Nurses are valued members of the care team and have an integral role in the success of our patients. Our team cherishes building relationships with patients and their caregivers and value the fact they entrust us with their care. The University of Kansas Health System supports staff in obtaining chemotherapy certification through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and provides a safe space through simulation to practice administrating chemotherapy. We recognize the importance of providing excellent cancer care, so professional certification is encouraged. There is an incentive to become and continue to be professionally certified. Cambridge 10: Acute Leukemia, Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Cellular Therapy Unit This 34-bed protective environment unit specializes in the care of new leukemia patients and patients in our nationally accredited blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy program. These patients often experience longer hospital stays due to complex chemotherapy regimens, prolonged neutropenia and supportive care therapies including intravenous medications, electrolyte replacements and blood transfusions. Specialized nursing care is required to ensure optimal outcomes and our team is able to develop strong relationships with our patients over the course of their treatment. Positions available include: 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am; part-time, full-time and PRN positions The Clinical Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients. Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population. Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care. Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: Provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients.
