St. Joseph’s Hospital North, part of BayCare Health System, is a 33-bed inpatient psychiatric unit that is a state-of-the-art program that will provide acute mental health services to a patient population that has advanced medical and psychaitric comorbidities. Our experienced team is comprised of psychiatrists, social workers, registered nurses, case managers and mental health technicians. St. Joseph’s Hospital North is a Baker Act-receiving facility.

Responsibilities and Skills:

Clinical Nurse II & Clinical Nurse Department Pool I

• Independently caring for a group of patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards.
• Delegating appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team.
• Professional accountability and development.
• Interpersonal Skills
• Critical Thinking Skills
• Clinical Skills Appropriate to the Position

Charge Nurse

• Acting as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team.
• Developing self and team members and sharing organizational information.

*The Clinical Nurse II performs the role of preceptor and charge nurse when assigned.

Required Certifications and Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• RN (Registered Nurse)
• Nurse Specialty - preferred

Required Education:

Clinical Nurse II & Clinical Nurse Department I Pool

• Associate's or Diploma in Nursing - Required

Charge Nurse

• Bachelor's in Nursing or Bachelors in Healthcare related field
• Or RN professional nurse speciality certification. Certification must be RN Professional, nationally recognized and applicable to the current primary area of practice on the approved Clinical Registered Nurse Certifications Grid.

Experience:

Clinical Nurse II

• 1 year RN in an Acute Care Setting
• Or 6 months of Acute Care Setting with prior LPN experience & completed competency assessment

Clinical Nurse Department Pool I

• 18 months of Acute Care Setting

Charge Nurse

• 18 months of Acute Care Setting
• 1 year of Leadership - preferred
