The Department of Family and Community Medicine has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to deliver family-focused care from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan at both our Waterloo Immediate Care Center in Columbia, Maryland and University of Maryland Immediate Care in Baltimore, Maryland. In this position, while working at our Immediate Care Center, you'll perform treatment for urgent care patients with health issues across a wide variety of illnesses that are considered non-life threatening. The FNP will work using established guidelines and clinical protocols under the direct supervision of a Medical Director while at the Immediate Care Center. The NP assumes independent and interdependent responsibilities in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of treatment and procedures. The FNP will diagnosis and treat health conditions of the body and mind from mild ailments to complex and serious conditions affecting any member of the family, from children to grandparents while working at our various locations. Urgent Care Job Duties & Responsibilities Utilizes advanced practice knowledge and skills to systematically evaluate health assessment data and manage a caseload of urgent care patients Performs comprehensive medical exams for walk-in/urgent care patients requiring minor surgical procedures as needed (e.g. suturing) Orders and reviews labs and other ancillary diagnostics tests Collaborates and communicates effectively with other members of healthcare team Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to clinical practice Maintains knowledge base by reading professional literature and attending staff development and continuing education programs annually Prescribing medication Requirements Qualified applicants will possess: Master's degree with completion of a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner program; current Maryland RN/CRNP licensure or eligibility to obtain Maryland licensure; 1-5 years practical experience and experience in Urgent Care/Emergency Medicine/Primary Care setting.
