Overview Due to expansion in the Hartford CT market, Diamond Healthcare is currently recruiting for seasoned behavioral health nurse leaders. This experienced Psychiatric Nurse Manager position will provide an environment for effective relationship-based nursing care and to ensure that the department consistently provides high quality care with positive patient outcomes. Under the direction of the Vice President of Nursing, the Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility/accountability for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the organization and the Nursing Department and their effect on patient care on a designated unit. The Nurse Manager has authority to make decisions on that unit in the areas of resident/patient care, as well as personnel and financial management. Identified members of Nursing Administration including Nurse Managers participate in “On Call” rotation and duties for this department. Ensuring efficient fiscal operation of the Department of Psychiatry. Seeking and acting upon patient, family and staff feedback. Promoting, developing and evaluating processes and systems for patient care. Leading the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards of care. Evaluating the outcomes of patient care to recommend and integrate appropriate changes. Ensuring compliance with hospital, state, federal and licensing agency regulatory standards. Leading and/or participating in Quality Improvement (QI) groups and other multidisciplinary meetings. Collaboration with community health organizations to enhance the hospital’s community presence. Strong team leadership skills. Requirements/Qualifications Qualifications: Experience in geriatrics and nursing management preferred. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing; Additional languages a plus. Basic computer knowledge required. Strong interpersonal skills; Experience working with healthcare bargaining units. Knowledge of a wide range of medical, psychosocial, cognitive and/or developmental disorders. Current Connecticut license as a registered nurse. Minimum of 5 years prior experience in patient care services at the hospital level. Demonstrated leadership ability and managerial competency. Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to, effective communication skills, ability to deal with people, ability to problem solve, ability to confront/resolve issues, ability to motivate others, ability to plan, organize, direct the activities of others and/or previous management experience. Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing or health-related field preferred. Current BCLS certification, ACLS preferred.
