Our UT Health Pittsburg hospital is seeking an experienced RN, Wound Care/RN, Employee Health . We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills in our Med/Surg Department where you will be responsible for: What You Will Be Doing: The wound care nurse is a multifaceted, evidence-based, registered nurse specialty which incorporates a unique body of knowledge to provide excellence in prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative nursing care to select patients. The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for implementing, budgeting, and managing the organizations Occupation Health program and coordinating for the Employee Injury Plan. DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Provides advanced management of wound, ostomy, and continence conditions of selected patients in the UT Health care system by utilizing the nursing process to promote quality cultural and age-appropriate patient care. Provides formal and informal education services in the area of specialty to health care providers, patients, and families/caregivers by using the theories and principle of cultural and age-appropriate education. Provides consultation in the area of specialization for health care providers of select patients by utilizing the principles of effective communication and change theory. Reviews and analyzes health records of all current UT Health Pittsburg employees and those of prospective new employees. Evaluates employee exposure for risk of transmission and recommends appropriate testing and/or treatment. Reviews and analyzes test results and interprets drug screens. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Education: BSN preferred Masters degree in nursing or graduate of an approved Wound, Ostomy, and Continence nursing school strongly preferred, or working towards this goal. Successful obtainment of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Certification through the WOCN Certification Board or working towards certification by means of the Experiential Pathway through the WOCN Certification Board is required. Experience: One year experience in acute care nursing Five years RN experience Experience in Case Management, Infection Control, and/or Occupational safety background preferred Certification and Licensure: Texas Registered Nurse Licenses Certification by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Society, or working towards certification. BLS Certification, ACLS Certification preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping, or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis and frequent walking. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work involves intermittent to occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements: may involve some contact with potentially hazardous or harmful elements in providing administrative or support services. Potential for cuts, bruises, muscle strains, exposure to airborne pathogens and exposure to contagious diseases.
