Job Summary In collaboration with an attending physician, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the direct care and follow-up of a population of patients that matches his/her delineation of privileges and skill set. The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and research.
In the medical inpatient setting, the psychiatric NP will assess, diagnose and treat pediatric patients with co-morbid medical and behavioral health diagnoses. The provider may consult on patients across all hospital services and/or be dedicated to a specific unit. The psychiatric NP will manage his/her own patient case load in collaboration with rotating attending psychiatric physicians. The NP will work within an interdisciplinary team including social work, bedside nursing, hospital pediatric providers, behavioral analysts and psychology.
