In this floating role within the Department of Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties, including recording patient ocular history, obtaining visual acuity, autorefractometry, lensometry, tonometry, pupil dilation, topical anesthesia, and assisting with minor procedures. You will also obtain medical histories from patients with standard and rare medical disorders as well as provide a range of administrative support. QualificationsWe’re seeking a self-directed, detail-oriented individual with: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification or a minimum of two years of experience working as an ophthalmic technician Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the visual systems preferred Ability to take accurate medical histories as well as measure/record visual acuity/tonometry Experience in contact lens verification and ordering as well as training patients in contact lens use Excellent communication, typing, interpersonal, analytical and prioritizing skills PC proficiency with MS Office Pleasant, caring and compassionate personality Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment Ability to thrive in a state-of-the-art, fast-paced, team-focused environment Knowledge of various ophthalmic clinical protocols Experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) highly desirable UCLA Health is a world-renowned health system with four award-winning hospitals and dozens of primary care practices, specialty practices, urgent care centers and other ancillary locations throughout metro Los Angeles as well as the David Geffen School of Medicine.
